That Weekend I was Sick

I know this isn’t exactly what the blog is aiming for, but I’m officially using my runny nose-fever-asthma combo as an excuse for this uneventful weekend πŸ˜…

I was actually right on schedule πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ Every year I get sick in the beginning of the -ber months probably because of the changing weather (it’s getting cold because it’s brrrrrr month*). Had to call in sick from work, but on the brighter side I was able to work on my thesis πŸ˜„ I’ve been putting it off for quite some time now haha (good job!).

Soooo the weekend wasn’t a total waste, I think. It definitely wasn’t exciting, but I was productive πŸ˜‰ good enough πŸ‘

*As told by my VERY funny friend Jevalene

That Weekend We Almost Went Ice Skating

Since my new found freedom every Saturday is limited to office hours (I still have a class 5pm onwards), my workmates and I planned on going ice skating in SM Megamall at 10am before everyone else crowds up the rink (so smart πŸ˜‰)

Buuuuut Filipino time kicked in πŸ˜’ and by the time we were complete it was already noon and we were famished. So we just went on to eat lunch at KyoChon.

We ordered Soonsal Salad (not a very big fan of orange dressing, sorry), Chicken wings: Honey Series (this one I like πŸ˜„) and Red Series (tooooooo spicy 😫), and Potato Wedge.

5

Forgot to take a photo of the chicken

We also ordered Hotteok which is… How can I put this… Interesting. It’s a dessert, and according to Wikipedia it’s a variety of filled Korean pancake. We had different opinions about it. I liked it but I’m not entirely sure hahaha πŸ˜‚.

Overall it was really fun mostly because I was in good company with these girls πŸ‘Έ It was just a little sad that we didn’t get to do the original plan which was ice skating, but hey there are still plenty of other chances to unleash our inner Ice Queen πŸ˜„ *adding this to my list of things to look forward to*

That Weekend that was Long

Let me start by apologizing for that incredibly creative title, aaaand I’ll try to get better with it. Hopefully soon. No promises though haha πŸ˜‰

But no, really, it was a long weekend with the holiday falling on a Monday. And I think it’s a good way of starting this blog along with the celebration of my final weekend shift at work (Yey!)

Dinner at BGC Mercato

To celebrate this milestone, my friend Bryan and I went to BGC Mercato which is about 3 minutes away from office but for some reason it’s only my second time in there. We had lechon sisig with “one cup of rice” (They claim that it was one cup. It wasn’t one cup). Then afterwards, a Nutella crepe for a taste of nostalgia from when I tried it for the first time in Germany ages ago.

And being the noob blogger that I am, I didn’t take any photos aside from this:

Second photo: credits to Bryan’s amazing photography skills which may land him a job as the next Magnum P.I.

Anyway… The weekend doesn’t end there β€” and so does the celebration 😁

Ayala Museum: History in Color

I originally planned a whole day food adventure with Mama at Binondo (Chinatown) but the weather forecast promised rainfall and thunderstorms by afternoon. Fact check: My mom and I are part gremlins and we, under any circumstances, should never get wet. Kidding. But we had to change plans so we ended up traveling to the distant lands of Ayala.

By chance, we passed by Ayala Museum and saw that they were holding an exhibit entitled History in Color, and the admission was free! (anything free, you got me πŸ˜‰)
3

The exhibit showed photos of the past remastered and blown up into colorful pieces. Their subjects range from historical events to the locals of far flung provinces to magnificent scenery caught on cam. All captured in this country *proud citizen*

And learning from our little mishap the day before, Mama and I took the chance to snap some photos of our own 😁

Pigging Out at Don Henrico’s

The last leg of this #DontWasteTheWeekend post is when we ate our hearts out at Don Henrico’s at Greenbelt 1. It was definitely not a meal for 2, but we finished it anyway 😁 You can never go wrong with pizza!
6

We ordered Caesar’s Salad, Rustic Italian Pizza, and X.O. Seafood Pasta. I won’t dive into anymore details. All you need to know is that it was all good. Happiness.

Aaaaand that’s how I spent my long weekend. How was yours? #DontWasteTheWeekend!

That Weekend I Started a Blog

A year ago I embarked on a journey of spending my Saturdays alone, in the office, working from 7 to 4, just to make up for the classes I attend to every Wednesday (Yey Wednesday Warrior!). Now I know I’m not the only one doing this, but I can’t help but feel that I’ve taken for granted most of the weekends my life. That’s 52 weekends times 22 years! (Okay that’s a bit over dramatic)

picture1

But still, I realized that Saturdays shouldn’t just be for sleeping in and cozying up on lazy afternoons. Weekends should be for adventures! For trying out new things! For creating new memories! For doing the stuff we can’t do because of our day jobs! (Feel my energy spikes haha) Weekends shouldn’t be wasted. Period. And that’s what I’m planning to do, starting with this blog.

Every week I’ll post about how I spent my weekend, whether going somewhere I’ve never been to before, or trying out a new exercise, or even just finishing a DIY project. The goal here is to plan something every week so I #DontWasteTheWeekendΒ

Wish me luck!
